Senior Collections Representative

Full Time Position

Salt Lake City, Utah

Overview:

The position will be responsible for all aspects associated with EnerBank’s daily collection process. This will include daily telephone communication with customers at all levels of delinquency as well as notice generation. In addition, the Senior Collections Representative handles complex customer questions. May assist in new Collections Representative training and may provide administrative assistance to the collections process. The position reports to the Collections Manager.

Qualifications:

Requires broad knowledge of collection procedures and practices. Requires four to six years of practical collections experience. Has a strong working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Bankruptcy Law. This employee has demonstrated excellent collection skills and has functioned as a role model for lower level employees. The employee has demonstrated the ability to work as part of a team, with proven professionalism, proven excellent telephone skills and has learned professional collections techniques.

Primary Daily Responsibilities:

  • Contacts customers by telephone or other methods/means approved by the Bank for the purpose of resolving the delinquent status of accounts.
  • Answer complex customer questions.
  • Counsel customers to available payment options.
  • Documenting outcomes and actions taken in Collection System notes.
  • Processing customer payments via phone.
  • Conduct on-the-job training with less experienced employees.
  • Assist in the development of written procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned


General Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service and collection skill.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under stressful conditions.
  • Experience with typical collection software.
  • MS Office experience including Word, Excel and Access.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a fast paced/changing environment.
  • Goal oriented team player.
  • Excellent negotiating skills.


Work Hours:

Full Time 40 hours per week. Collection hours to be determined and may change based on business needs. Some Saturday and evening shifts required. This position is eligible for Shift Premium, which is 6% of base hourly salary. This position is eligible for Language Premium for fluent oral Spanish or other language as required. Language Premium is an additional $0.50 per hour.


Typical Work Day for this Job Would Consist as Follows:

  • Reviewing first payment default accounts.
  • Reviewing modification accounts for follow up calls.
  • Making contact on delinquent accounts assigned through residence, employment, relatives, and neighbors.
  • Using research tools to access better contact numbers for customers.
  • Helping resolve delinquency issues by offering options of modification, extension, and or alternate plans to help customer bring account current.
  • Take payment information through credit card, and check by phone system and reviewing any adjustments needed to customers account.
  • Work along-side team members to assist in obtaining team and personal delinquency goals.
